East scholar to attend national scientific symposium

A high-achieving East High School student and future software developer will get a leg up on his future thanks to his selection to a prestigious national symposium.

Elijah Deshaies, a junior who holds a 5.0 grade point average, will travel to Massachusetts in June for the three-day National Academy of Future Scientists and Technologists.

The academy is an annual gathering of the nation’s best and brightest high schoolers determined to make their mark in the science/technology industry.

In Massachusetts, Deshaies will receive guidance and inspiration from some of the world’s leading experts in STEM-related fields.

“When I was notified I had earned this honor I was thrilled and anxious, because I knew I would have the chance to talk to some of the most successful people of our time and I would learn valuable lessons that can majorly help my future,” said Deshaies.
